Namings
Naming ceremonies have been around for centuries to celebrate the birth of a child and welcome them into the family and wider community. A Naming ceremony is typically a non-religious alternative to a Christening and is a lovely way to gather your family together and welcome your child.
It is not only for babies though; you might also welcome an older child or an adopted child not to mention a house or boat.
It is an opportunity to acknowledge siblings, grandparents and friends who will also play a significant role in your child's life and appoint Godparents or other guardians.
You can read poems, share stories, offer blessings, exchange gifts and make promises as you formally give your child their name.
This is not a legal ceremony and there are no rules. Your options are endless and only limited by your imagination.
I will guide you through the different elements of your ceremony and create something personal for your child that you will cherish. When I've finished my draft I'll email it to you for your approval and we can edit it until you are completely happy.
Your child will receive a presentation Naming Certificate and a beautifully bound copy of their ceremony as a keep sake. Your child's Godparents will also receive a presentation certificate to commemorate the day.
What better way to welcome your child!
